Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatiod Arthritis is seen by medical science as being passed down the female line as an autoimmune blood disease, often with an onset in middle of menopause. Science has identified the processes involved in Rheumatiod Arthritis as resulting from an excess of iron in the body which burns out the synovial fliud thereby reducing the lubrication available in the joints. The inflammation results ultimately in damage to the joints themselves and severe pain until finally the joints sieze up and are no longer painful.
Holistic Medicine sees Rheumatoid Arthritis as a blood toxicity problem, the predispostion for which is certainly genetic. However, we don't have to travel this path and a healthy diet and healthy fluid intake (plenty of Rosehips Tea is particularly helpful) is one aspect of ensuring that you don't follow your parents into Rheumatoid Arthritis.
A healthy attitude is also important and it seems as if the personality type which is prone to Rheumatoid Arthritis is one who starts out with a very clear vision of how their life should be and, when aspects of this don't turn out as planned they become very critical either of themselves or those they blame for this outcome.
Letting go of these increasingly critical attitudes is the key to reversing the illness in energetic terms. Embracing new learning or areas of study is an ideal way for this sort of person to apply their clear vision and to facilitate their ability to let go of the rigid and critical views which resulted in their illness.
There are very many folk remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis and the only factor which unites them seems to be that sufferers had gone out and studied their illness and came up with something which worked for them. One has to ask whether the solution to any particular case was to do with the effort to study the Rheumatism or to the cure itself.
Some people benefit from either heat or from cold and gain relief this way. Keeping up the movement and preventing joints from freezing up is important.
Yoga is certainly a means of ensuring that joints don't freeze up but yoga facilitates flexible attitudes as well as flexible bodies. Other things like a copper bangle (with a gap) can be effective for some people. Aerobic excercise as simple as walking briskly in the country side and oxygenating the blood in this way is also a very good preventative habit.
Some people also experience symptomatic relief from massaging with linseed oil or heating linaments containing wintergreen oil. Others swear by a glass of lemon juice or vinegar in the morning.
The herbal mix I start my patients out on include herbs most commonly used for Rheumatoid Arthritis and includes Burdock, Tansy, Oats, Maritime Pine Bark, White Willow, Mistletoe, Comfrey, Guaicum and Valerian, as well as the Bach Flowers White Chestnut, Chicory, Mimulus, Rock Rose, Water Violet, Walnut, Oak and Agrimony.
This combination is helpful to reduce the inflammation and pain of Rheumatoid Arthritis as well as addressing the Genetic and the Energetic factors. I encourage all my Rheumatoid patients to take charge of their own research and to think about the person picture I have outlined above
